CALIGRAPHY / SIGN WRITING
These 5 day Courses will run in the Spring and Autumn offering students of all abilities, either just wishing to improve your hand writing, or produce a beautiful work of art in classic 'Gill Sans serif' 'Roman Numerals on Teak'.As groups are kept small there will be plenty of scope to explore different styles and allow your individual creativity to flourish. All tools brushes and scribes are provided, although you can bring your own if you prefer.

This five day course is run from Johns 'Riverside' Chalet on three miles of golden sands, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.Transport between venues and to painting locations can be arranged, John lectures on the subject at St Austell Collage. among others -as well as offering tuition on a one to one basis, at a clients house, or his own Studio
The Chalet will sleep a maximum of eight and there is a spacious lounge with exquisite views of the River estuary,Lelant Church,Trencrom and St Ives Bay.
Groups are kept small so that very individual tuition can be given and individual needs catered for.whether you are an absolute beginner, or have been paintings for years,this is the course for you There will be tips on handling this chalenging medium as well as demonstrations-'The changing sky'-'The sea in action'-Reflections, and 'Sea sand & sun' as well as painting on this beautiful location, Students can paint inside 'Riverside' if wet.and you may work in a different medium if you wish. Both road and rail services are within walking distance.

LIFE DRAWING AND PAINTING
A course where you will have the oppertunity to work from the life model, beginners welcome - as well as the more advanced student, There will be a variety of poses to suit everyone, starting with 'the figure in repose' duration - two hours ( with breaks )semi reclining and standing, the tutor will assist students new to the subject in composition perspective and observation, there will also be manikins to work from and for the more competent, there will be demonstrations in watercolor to include the wet in wet color wash, skin tones, tips on painting drapes and for the more advanced, watercolor portraiture from the sitter, 'How to say more with less paint', pose and the affects of gravity on the torso. Students new to art may like to ask the tutor's advice on what to bring. Please feel free to bring your own 'kit'. The Center holds a stock of quality watercolor paper and materials if required. you may also work in another medium if you prefer

Students that may have had difficulty writing at school are most welcome, There will be a small charge for the material you work on, and wish to take home with you, Come and have some fun!

PHOTOGRAPHY FOR FUN
The 'Camera' has become as familiar to us as the kettle and for centuries it was said - 'The camera doesn't lie', well these days it's a 'different kettle of fish'. While the printable has remained unchanged in capturing reflected light and used for more than one hundred years to record our monarchs ,civic occasions and the horrors of war, The digital era has given us the potential to explore limitless possibilities restricted only by our the far reaches of our imagination.

The course is open to anyone with acamera - old or new, the 'Single Lens Reflex' is preferable or the conasure???may wish to bring thair 2 1/4 square. We will explore color,composition, the telephoto lens, taking close ups, using available light, depth of field and special effects.
